Различие значений намагниченности ферромагнетика при одной и той же напряженности намагничив. поля в завис-ти от уровня предварит, намагничивания. Площадь петли м. г. пропорц. энергии, теряемой в образце за один цикл изменения поля. Эти потери идут на нагрев образца и называются гистерезисными. Потери на м. г. нежелательны в сердечниках трансформаторов, в статорах и роторах электродвигателей.
